Create Audio From Your Research Material

Create Audio From Your Research Material

Audio Notetaker can be used to bring all your research and reference material together in one place. This means that you can work through the material as audio giving you access to all the annotation features built into Audio Notetaker.

In this example we will use a PDF document with accessible text, but the techniques shown can be used on any PowerPoint slideshow or any PDF document with accessible text.  and it can be also used with text added to the Reference or Text panes manually.

1. Import your PDF file - you will get each page in a separate section.
2. Click in the Reference Pane and use 'Copy text from Slides' on the Text Side Bar to copy all the accessible text.

With the text now in the Reference pane you can use 'Speak' to listen back to the text.

3. You can create audio chunks directly from the text. On the dropdown menu on the speak button you can choose to send the current section or all your text to audio. If you have large amounts of text then this can take a little while to complete.

You end up with an Audio Notetaker document containing:
  • All the original PDF pages or PPT slides; where any inaccessible images and diagrams can still be viewed.
  • A complete text copy in the Reference pane; where you can highlight key quotes and copy and paste them into the text pane. Or use Speak to read back parts or all of the text.
  • The audio, which can now be navigated easily, edited and coloured.
  • The Text Pane where you can continue to work; carry on with your research or build your essay/assignment.

We bring your research into one place, giving you an audio version and providing the Text pane where you can continue your research, build an essay or work on your assignment.
