IOS User Guide - Transfer

IOS User Guide - Transfer

You can transfer your recordings from the app to your computer in a number of ways. The simplest is using the inbuilt wifi transfer, but this does need both your device and PC to be on the same wifi network but bear in mind that device discovery is not always enabled on public networks.

Wifi Transfer

You need to ensure that both your computer and mobile device are connected to the same wifi network. Some public networks will not allow devices to be discovered, you may need to set up your own private network or try again on a different network.

You will also need Apple's Bonjour installed on your computer - this comes bundled with iTunes and is preinstalled on Mac OS; if you are using a Windows computer, and do not have iTunes, then you can just install Bonjour here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999

Bonjour is required for wifi transfer from BOTH Android and IOS devices.
Please note that the version of iTunes on the Windows Store does not include Bonjour.

  • Press the Transfer button (1)

You'll see the transfer page displaying a four digit code (the code changes every time you transfer).

  • Open Audio Notetaker on your PC
  • You need to open the Portable Device Manager:
    • From the App menu (green button in the top left) choose Manage → View Portable Devices
    • From the Home Tab select Transfer → Transfer from Sonocent Recorder
  • After a few seconds your device will be listed in the left hand pane. Select your device and enter the 4 digit code.
  • You'll then see a list of all the files on your device
    • You can select individual or multiple files to copy to your computer - use the buttons in the bottom left of Audio Notetaker to copy.
    • There is also an option to delete the files from your device after they have been copied.
  • Your copied files will be placed in your default recording folder, which is normally ../Documents/Audio Notetaker Recordings/Portable Device

iTunes Transfer

You can transfer files to your computer using iTunes.

  • Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.
  • Select your device from the toolbar and choose 'Apps'
  • Scroll to the bottom of the Apps page to 'File Sharing'
  • Select Sonocent from the Apps list and all your files should be displayed.
  • Select the files that you want to transfer and click 'Save-To. Pick a location and save your files to your computer.

File Sharing

You can also share files from within the App itself. You can only share one file at a time.

  • Press the chevron menu button alongside the file you want to share.
  • Select Share Recording.
  • You can then choose how to share your file. You can use Airdrop, Mail, Dropbox and other file sharing applications installed on your device.
