In this version we have introduced a usage log to help us understand how Audio Notetaker is being used. You can disable Usage Logging at any time.
For more information view our Privacy Policy, you can view this within the application or on our website here: www.sonocent.com/privacy
To view the Privacy Policy in Audio Notetaker go to the App Menu (green button top left) → Help → About
No personal information is logged.
We create a log entry when you use any of Audio Notetaker's functions, including recording and playing back of files, editing, colouring, exporting and importing. We do not log any data such as file names or any of the tag information you use. We do not record any of the audio or any text you enter - simply that you have imported / recorded audio and/or entered some text.
The log will be uploaded in the background whenever Audio Notetaker checks for updates.
The logs are linked to your Licence Key and Email, however Audio Notetaker anonymises these before uploading to our server - we cannot identify you from your log file.
If you are using a Licence Key from an institution (your College or University) then we will log the Licence Key on our server. Your email will still be anonymised so that you cannot be uniquely identified.
You can view the log by pressing the ALT key and navigating to Tools → View Usage Log
Logging is turned on by default but you can turn it off in Settings. From the Home Tab go to Settings → General and in the Update Notifications box is an option to disable the upload. Disabling the upload will also stop further actions from being logged.
Even when you have disabled the log we will still add the last few actions into Audio Notetaker's error log to help diagnose any problems; the error log is not automatically uploaded, it will only ever be requested by our support team in reference to a specific issue.
To View your Error log go to the App Menu (green button top left) → System → Locate User data and open the file log.txt
